Accessibility

We aim to make this website accessible to all. We try to ensure all pages conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA in line with the EU Accessibility Directive. Our accessibility statement below sets out this commitment and what we are doing to improve.

Reporting accessibility problems with this website

We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find any problems or think we're not meeting accessibility requirements, please email nscp@northamptonshire.gov.uk or call 01604 364036 and ask to speak to someone in the Business Office.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1. AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Content that's not within scope of the accessibility regulations

Documents

Many of our documents are currently not compliant, older PDFs and other documents don't meet accessibility standards. For example, they may not be structured so they're accessible for someone using screen reader software. This doesn't meet WCAG success criterion 4.1.2.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. We are working through documents to convert them to be accessible and any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Video and audio

Some pre-recorded videos published before September 2020 do not include captions. This doesn’t meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.2.2. We may not add captions to these videos because pre-recorded video published before 23 September 2020 is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

Some pre-recorded videos published before September 2020 may require, but don't include, audio description. This doesn’t meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.2.5. We may not add audio description to these videos because pre-recorded video published before 23 September 2020 is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

Any pre-recorded video or audio content we publish from September 2020 onwards will meet accessibility standards.
