Signs of Safety is coming to Northamptonshire
Signs of Safety is an internationally successful model which will transform the way we work with children and families across the county.
The Signs of Safety model is intended to help practitioners work in partnership with families and children, identifying areas that need to change, including worries and risk, while focusing on the family’s strengths, resources and networks.
“Implementing the Signs of Safety model will help us build on the successes we have had,” said Lesley Hagger, Director for Children, Families and Education. “It will ensure that everything we do keeps children and families at the centre of our work, and that solutions and outcomes are the right ones for them.”
When is this happening?
Launch events for the rollout of the Signs of Safety model in Northamptonshire have recently taken place where staff and partners who work with children and families learnt more about the methodology, and how the different tools and techniques work.
Family Support Worker, Martina Garcia also shared how she has put the Signs of Safety tools into practice, and the difference they have made to her work with children and families.
Martina said: “The tools have given me much more confidence. The three houses tool is brilliant as it really helps children to express their feelings in a creative way, and I’ve found they will open up and share more. The tools are really powerful and I’m looking forward to using them more and more with the families I work with.”
